differences between F2 and F70

Have the chance to pick up a new F70 really cheap. What will it do that a F2 wont. I know it has more program options but will it out perform a F2. I know the coils wont interchange so is the build quality better?, I know it has manual ground balance and frequency shift.. What edge would it give me?,, thanks

Man...I wish I could answer that for you but I have never used an F-2 before. All I can tell you is that the ablity to set the F70 up the way you want to really allows you to be able to hunt almost anywhere and in most conditions. I have had a very good experience with my F70 and I've used many many other brands. Wish I could give you more info though.

You will be using AA's with the F70...and they last a very long time. One thing the F70 has that many others do not is the Delta Pitch tones...and I tell you, once you get good with them, you can practically read the date of the coin by sound!

Hard to compare an F2 entry level detector and F70 which is a high end middle level unit.

Certainly a well learned F70 will get you the deeper coins and improve your hunting skills ought to cover it but expect a learning period....

And of course lots of forum members to help you along the way...

Most of the answer depends on you. Do you want to invest in the learning curve? How much do you hunt? Where do you hunt and for what? How cheap? Is it a decent machine? For me probably heck yeah, in a heartbeat! I have been adding a new (read used, new to me) stick about every 90 days. It doesn't seem that neurotic in real time. I am married to a therapist, go figure. Anyone wanna buy 5 MD? :wiggle:

Oh yeah, I started on the F2 2 years ago and while I liked it fine until I had a higher end unit and never looked back. If you want to find more, just do it.

I owned an F2 over a year ago and have owned an F70 for about 2 to 3 months now. The two biggest advantages to the F70 (in my opinion) are the increased battery life and its stability. I didn't find the F2 to be very stable, even when turning down sensitivity. In re: to depth, the F2 had the 8 inch coil vs. the F70 came with the 10 in. so the F70 had better depth on smaller coins.
