Difficult learning curve of the Explorer..............................:nerd:

big-ears

New member
Out of curiosity, I put the battery pack in and powered up my Explorer, which starts in smartfind screen after resetting it, walked out back and located a dime about 8 inches down in my test garden: elapsed time 14 minutes. I wanted to find coins, it did its job, what learning curve? I'll take dimes at 8 inches out of the box any day of the week! Change any setting......got a problem, push the start button in and hold it for 5 seconds and it returns to factory settings, I once got trapped in a phone booth cause I didn't know you pulled on the door instead of pushing it, so I'm not the swiftest guy in the pack but the Explorer to me just can't get any easier to detect with!:minelab:

I agree also.:detecting:

Good hunting!

I think it's easier for people who haven't detected before to learn it. For those of us who have used another high end machine prior to the SE, the transition is greater. The tones quite literally gave me a headache when I first used the SE and I found it very frustrating to use. I've got 100 hours now and I'm starting to feel like I'm getting the hang of it as far as finding deep coins and masked coins.

I did notice in Andys book several people were using Auto sensitivity, cond sounds, and almost factory IM. I think the initial thought you have to crank it up... open it up... and use Ferr sounds all the time as the only means of getting those good targets may be changeing especially once you learn the machine and adapt it to your style of hunting. Treaking and adapting to the conditions may be a better way.
