Today, I went back to an old community that existed up until the early 70's. There are the remains of a road only passable on foot and only one remaining visible foundation. Last year I detected this area but it was only for an hour or so turning up a couple of pennies.
Today I made a mistake and actually walked past the old foundation which was my original target for the day. When I got to the end of where the community was I turned around because I knew that I must have walked past the old foundation. On the way back I found a small spring type area that had stones stacked by hand. My first target turned up what I thought may have been a large cent but after I rubbed it I could see that it was not currency and had a torso of a person on it. It looked like another token that I had found in a park but was a little too crusty to tell.
I stumbled onto another one, then one more and then another until I eventually found 11 them. I think only two of them were in one hole but they were all located in about a 15 square foot area. I had holes all over the place. When I got them home I was expecting that maybe they were 11 of the 12 zodiac signs. If they were, I was planning on going back just to see if I could find the last one. After cleaning them up with a brass brush there ended up being some duplicates:
4 Aries
1 Cancer
3 Capricorn
2 Scorpio
1 Sagittarius
I also found a 1945S wheat and two other pennies, one being from 1964. I also found a #15 brass tag. I plan on going back and seeing what else is there. The dime and two pennies in the picture were from a small park that I stopped at on the way to the old community.
