Diggin History #10 - 5/17/08 Off the beaten trail :cam:

I went out to the woods at 7:30am, right after getting out of my night job. I stayed for 6 hours. Whenever I go hunting I always keep my eyes peeled for old bottles. Well today I spied a couple of old ones. I finally found an old thick greenish Coke bottle that was intact. I also found an old embossed bottle. It says "HORLICK'S MALTED MILK LUNCH TABLETS". So that was 2 firsts for me!!!

I also found 4 Wheat's, the oldest one is a 1913. So this is now my oldest Wheat Cent that I found to date. My previous oldest wheat cent was a 1918s that I found in the same woods. I can't wait to break into the Indian Head Cents!!!

I also found some more shotgun shells, and a pistol caseing and 2 pistol slugs (bullets).

Another first for me, I found 3 lipsticks, 2 complete with dried up remnants of lipstick still inside, and 1 cap. I also found a gold or gold plated pendant. It turned out to be a "Brotherhood of Railroad & Trainsmen" pendant. If anybody has an approximate date on it, I would appreciate it.

Treasurefiend, I forgot to add this question : How in the world can you detect for 6 hours after working a night shift?

when I worked nights in the hospital, I had to go right to sleep..and that was when I was as young as you are now..

Were'nt you tired?

Just about the time I get off of work, I am dog tired. But when I get out to the woods I am re-energized. I have to make my self go home. I wanted to stay longer, but I had to work again that night. So I had to force my self to stop!!! But once I got home, I took a shower, and when my head hit my pillow, I was out like a light!!!!!!! My biggest fear is that the time will get away from me. I will be out detecting, and I look at my cell phone for the time, look 4 hours had passed!!!!!!! And it only felt like maybe 1 or 2 hours had passed. I am seriously in La La Land when I am detecting!!!! It's time away from everything, no distractions, no problems, no nothing, just me maybe some friends and nature, what more can anyone want??? Its kind of like a mini vacation from every weekend.

But before I had the night job, I was awake anyways. I am always up watching TV or playing on the computer or video games. I'm an insomniac... I just figured, I might as well get paid while I was awake anyways.
