Diggin in Va. X, using my F75

ringfinder

New member
Well it has been over a week now since I got back from the State of Virginia and the Diggin in Va. X hunt.
Being my first time at a Diggin event, I was overwhelmed by the historical area. I had read many posts on
how to set up my F75 to hunt in the hot, hot soil of Va.

My first day started off with a 3 ringer in the field right behind where we all parked our trucks. I didn't find anymore bullets in
that field, but did come up with a horseshoe and a part of a iron kettle. My partner came and got me, he uses a F75 also, and we
went to the field he was hunting. Found 10 more 3 ringers in that field. I sure had a lot more fun in that field once I figured out
what signals to dig. Actually you just about dig any signal you get. I must have dug 200 nails over a 3 day hunt period.

The next two days were a blur. All in all, I found 27 3-ringers, 5 buttons, the first one I dug is the only one you can see the
eagle on, the rest were just backs. I also found confederate 3 ringer and of the 27 3-ringers, three of them had been removed
from rifles.

I had a great time, learned that I wasn't in as good a shape as I thought I was. LOL
Can't wait to go back in March.

Hey, that is a nice haul of three-ringers! Congrats on the buttons. I have an F-75 too and live in CA. I'm curious as to the settings you used, the operating mode, depths of targets, those kind of details. - Jim

Not sure what happened to my other login but had to re-register..........anyway I'm new to detecting and I'm curious to know how the bullets(3 ringers) got in the ground. Were they just dropped maybe from a pouch? Or were they shot from a rifle? I know it may seem to be dumb questions but just wanted to understand.

"Drops" are usually the result of getting the powder wet. They would discard them and draw new caartridges. Living outside in the elements was hard on ammo. This is common in camp areas.

keep on diggin'

Oh I would love to let my F75 fly on one of those Diggin In Va trips. I want to be able to go to one of those so bad. I love civil war relics. Were your buttons and bullets around 60 or so on your Vdi??
