The spoonbills are in Fl. right now. You can see them at the cape.
When I lived at Hilton Head SC. I would have my bird feeder full of Painted Buntings in the summer time. Unbelievable site.

If the Germans came a shore, they would have been found out right a way. As soon as they opened their mouths and didn't have that Georgia draw.

As to Germans in the Deep South, I once read a book about German POWs in the United States, and there was one story (possibly apocryphal) about a little old lady in some small Southern town who spotted an escaped German prisoner drinking from her well. She blasted him with her shotgun.
Looks like a nice day to be out. A bad day detecting always beats a good day at the office.
Neil- you're preachin' to the choir, there, as they say. In other words... EXACTLY! You got that right!

Of course, I spend nights at the office- graveyard shift, to be exact. And it isn't bad. Allows me some free Internet time after the chores are done. I actually wrote that post while I was at work. Dig by day, write by night. Come summertime, though, I might switch that around- when it gets too hot outside, I'll probably go back to night-hunting.
