I also enjoyed your post. My wife and I visit St. Simons annually and in fact, will be going there next month. Maybe our paths will cross on one of the beaches. HH jim tn

That is one of the most entertaining posts I've read on ANY metal detecting forum! Thanks for the tour of an area you obviously know well and love just as much! :clapping: Though you gave your hunt a D+, I give the post an A+!!

Yah!:clapping:

Great post.

We enjoyed it a lot.

Thanks

Maybe so, Jim, but I think I'll go back to dry land for a while. PM me with some advance notice if you wanna look me up while you are here.

I hit the beach again in the AM and got only five signals in the space of an hour. Three were phantoms, one was foil like the detector said (condom wrapper, I think), and one was a modern zinc cent. (I hate zinc cents like most detectorists, but I gotta say, the sand polishes 'em up nicely.)

BTW, thanks for the kind words, all. And to SeabeeRon, for joining up and visiting over on my tiny TH-ing forum.

A very enjoyable read lordmarcovan.

I read your post on the Chinese medallion that you found, and it's quite interesting as it has long been though that the Chinese reached California long before the Spanish did, or Columbus reached the U.S. There's bits and pieces of evidence all over the state, and there was even a book and PBS documentary on the matter.

Cal

PS - Yesterday was my first trip out with my new (to me) C$ at a tot lot near my home and I landed a clad dime, zinc penny and a pull-tab. I have to say, that even though the dime is new, it was still exciting to dig it up for my very first find : )
