dime day

Got out with the Omega this afternoon for about 3 hrs at one of the local parks, decided to use the factory gb setting, sens @90 and tried to detect with the disc set just above iron but there was way to many pull tabs and bottle caps so ended up setting it at 80 and stilll ended up digging a bunch of trash but ended the day with $2.43 (13 of the coins were dimes), a key and what looks to be the body of a ladies watch and a small part of the band. Had a couple of screwy signals a zinc penny gave a vdi of 77 but the tdi was a screw cap and had several crown bottle tops id as a dime but I didn't pay close enough attention to the vdi numbers. All in all a good day got to detect, found some money and got to know my machine a little better. HH Jimmie

Good Job !! To help not to dig trash size your target's before you dig. Pin pointing will solve this!

I pretty much use the PP all the time as I still can't PP accurately without using it, what kind of disappointed me tho was that the targets that were sounding off as a dime (but was something else) with the Omega, I could swing the Cibola's coil over it and not hear a sound (Cibola was set at max disc also) so now I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the Omega as those bottle caps should have been disc'd out on it. Any of ya'll having similar results? Jimmie

What coil were you using? A DD coil "likes" bottle caps and will sound off on them often with a high tone to about 3 to 4 inches deep. Pay attention as on my Gamma the caps ring up as 84 almost without fail with the DD coils. If it was the stock coil I would be surprised that it was not working right. Your stock coil and mine are different critters but the detectors work similarly.

I only have the stock coil, but I've been thinking about getting the 5" DD coil, was out yesterday with both the Omega and my Cibola (stock concentric coil) and it seems that in that park at least that my Cibola runs much quieter (sens set at 10, disc maxed out, threshold maxed out) than the Omega (sens at 90, disc maxed, 4 tones, factory gb) and finds coins much better in amognst the trash, not sure it was a fair compairson tho so the next time I go to that park I'm going to hit a different area, work a small areas with both detectors so that I'm sure the same ground is being hunted by both and see what happens.
