The purpose of dividing and conquering is to squash the enemy by breaking the larger force into smaller groups. It is easier for a smaller opposing force to conquer a larger group when it is broken down into smaller groups. I guess you could think of it similar to eating an elephant. Can you do it in one bite? No but in smaller bites it can be done...just takes a long long time (lol). Anyway, if you take and break up the large forces of the enemy into 'bite size' smaller groups they can be conquered.
We may not notice but we are in this 'war' daily. The government uses the "us against them" mindset to break us all up into a smaller group. As long as we fight amongst ourselves we have no time to see the true enemy and fight back as a unified front. For example, we have the Democrats vs Republicans, the Liberals vs the Conservatives, the Blacks against the Whites, the rich vs the poor, freedom vs socialism, non-Christian vs Christian, etc. Can you see the 'dividing of the larger force' with these tactics?
There is the government of the people, by the people and for the people who consider 'the people' as their large enemy.
We also have yet another enemy, one more deadly than the government that tries to suppress us and keep us in bondage to them. This enemy is not a physical one that we see but a spiritual one and called by many names....the devil, Satan, Lucifer, etc.
Our strength is in Jesus....where there are two or more gathered in my name I am in the midst.
A two-fold cord is not easily broken. (With God...that is ONE unbreakable cord for sure)
Again the devil uses this same tactic on Christians. Divide and conquer. We become weak when we get angry, We get weak when we are not joined together as one and with ONE. As we have seen here many times, we are a strong prayer group and we have the ear of God as we have seen and heard of many miracles He has done for us....one such miracle isI am alive and would have been dead in 2006 had not this group joined together in prayer. We know prayer is one if not the strongest weapons we have against what the devil does - and he knows that well. If he can get us to be against each other in any way and cause us to be angry with one another or separate ourselves from one another, he wins and we become conquered and his captives. He uses arguments or misunderstandings or misconceptions to divide us from one another.
The Bible says we should not forsake the gathering together as Christians. Why? Again, that two fold cord. How can one get up if there is no one to help him? There is strength in numbers. The prayer of a righteous man availeth much.....Imagine the prayers of this group together....if the prayers of one righteous man availeth much what does more avail? Much more....for where two or MORE are gathered in MY NAME (JESUS) I am in the midst. That single cord is ok, a two fold cord is great and with Jesus in the midst of us it is AWESOME what can be done. The devil knows this too and one reason he goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he can destroy. He does not want us to be a unified force against him. So he finds 'reasons or excuses or whatever' that will separate us from one another....breaking us into a smaller group...taking us captive and held in bondage to him and taking us away from the strength we have in one another and in God.
What can keep us together? Knowing the Word of God. When anything comes at us we don't like let's see wjat the real problem is and how to deal with that problem.....with God's Word. Don't use our 'feelings' as they are not accurate and are usually wrong. Use God's Word for it is infallible and accurate and never changes. It is useful for right discerning the hearts and minds of men and good for instruction and for correction.....sharper than any two-edged sword.
If we offend someone we should not break away but ask for forgiveness. How many times should I forgive my brother and Jesus answered with? You know the answer, right. We fight a spiritual battle against principalities, powers and spiritual wickedness in high places. Let's concentrate on who our enemy is....and it is not each other.
I leave you with peace. Not my peace but the Peace of God that endures forever.
