Does a coil cover reduce the coil signal into the ground?

I have gta 1250 with a 8.5 inch coil just want to know if the cover for the coil reduces the signal
 
No but if you don't keep it cleaned out it can collect debris and moisture and cause your detector to do funny things.

Thanks man yes i do keep it clean after everytime i got out <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
