does anti virus software protect you?

i have norton anti virus, and ive never had a problem,knock on wood.you would think these jackasses would use their talents more constructivly, like bringing down the IRS.
 
Thats a constructive idea!
As for the antivirus software, it probably works, but of course it has to be up to date AND installed and running before any of its already known virus's show up at your computer. A brand new virus that the scanning software doesnt yet know about can waltz right into your pc and do its thing.
I have been using this free Virus software and it has caught a couple of attempts of virus's trying to get into the pc.

I dont know if this software is among the best or not BUT it is most definately better than not using any precautions at all.
