Does anyone really like the 3 khz 9" concentric coil? Need input!

Just want to know peoples input on their luck with the 9" concentric 3 khz coil for silver, copper wheaties, indian head cents, gold rings. how is the TIDs, pinpointing? Mine does not seem as good as my 5x10 eliptical coil HF. Just started playing with it. Got permission to hunt a guys property later today that has a old house and other buildings on it. It turns out that many many years ago he said there was a burried bank robbery stash burried there in a well casing pipe. I was told many silver coins. early 1900's

Until Coiltek came out with their 3kHz coils, my 9" got about even time on the 705 as my 7.5kHz DD. I loved it enough to have tirelessly pestered Minelab about providing us with others. It's biggest downfall is not being a DD, so it's separation characteristics aren't optimal for working trash laden homesteads or the average city park.

Does very well in iron and hits hard on copper and silver. Also turns my 705 into a very good beach hunter in both dry and wet salt sand. I have used it on several NJ beaches and it has performed well there.

I like concentric coils ( soils I hunt are not mineralized ) since I am used to them more than DD's, so that is another plus for me.

Overall I think the LF 9 inch concentric has it's place the X-Terra arsenal. Especially for coin shooting coppers and silver.

when you were running the LF concentric around what sensitivity where you using to get stablitly and how was the depth?

I bought it thinking that it would be the silver coin killer that I was seeking and it turned out to be a very difficult coil to use in my mild soil. Had it been a DD, I think that it would have been a great coil. I ended up selling it to someone who is strictly a nugget hunter.

I've probably been the biggest supporter for the 3 kHz coils since the X-TERRA was introduced. In my moderately mineralized soil, the 9-inch concentric at 3 kHz is my "go to" coil for open areas. It provides better depth than any of the other coils, except the CoilTek All Terrains. The audio harmonics provided on deeply buried iron is a terrific tool for those of us who hunt farmsites and homesteads. When targets become "plentiful", I prefer the separation characteristics of the DD coils. For coins, I prefer the 6-inch CoilTek Digger at 3 kHz. If I am hunting for jewelry instead of coins, I like the TID accuracy of the 6-inch Minelab at 18.75 kHz. JMHO Randy

Sensitivity in the 22-23 range. All in all it ran very smooth and I dug a few quarters in the 10-12 inch range. At this point I have not taken the 9 inch LF to any dirt spots.
