Does anyone remember the modified Explorer?

GaryL posts here at times, he's a recent Explorer SE convert, ( my fault,) ~ he was intent on hip mounting it...

He hasn't posted for a while, I figure he's away. ( I hope he's ok... )

But if, and when he commences posting again, ask him about his hip mounting adventures Bob...:detecting:

I know just what you are talking about. I made a copy of that post and studied it-decided I didn't like the idea and got rid of my copies. Man, I'm sorry about that guys. Sure would void any warranty's though---right?? Del

there was never really that much less weight form doing such conversations ...just a re-balancing and what I think was more a cosmetic familiarization. That's what I think it is anyway.....

That's of course unless you take that one conversion of the actual stock that saw the EX XS coil being rehoused in a lighter shell.(Charles(NY) or Beachcomber I think)

The whole idea of using the other shaft configurations was that the seem more balanced and more rigid when swinging it all.

The Explorer control box weighs very little in the whole scheme of things.

You need the batteries or some other weight to counter weigh the coil and produce the balance. So they, the batteries will invariably be better off where they are or maybe even further up.

I brought the display part of the control box up to my chest....not on the hips...what a waste. In my opinion, might as well leave it mounted on the shaft or ya end up with a pretty sore neck.

After experimenting and chopping and changing, I can now honestly say that unless you want to water proof the Explorer , leave it just as it is and make good what needs to be repaired.

The SE is just so well set up and you might think it needs a physical improvement , but I like it the way it is.

No time to waste on conversions of something that is a good as the Explorer SE( and the others)that does not need it.

Bob I have a modified XS, control mounted on a Whites rod with headphone jack on the backside of controls. Has a 8AA battery pack mounted under arm rest. I like the way it handels and esy to change coils. HH Frank in NH
