Does iron mask -16 give you greater depth?

I have heard a few times in the past few days that iron mask has no effect on depth e.g. you will get the same depth whether you are hunting using a smartfind coin program, iron mask set to -4, or set to -16. So what say you all?
I say the machine goes deeper with the iron mask set to the -14 to -16 range.

if its not full of iron I can hunt in -8 and get the same has -10 or -16
But on that if its full of iron I can squeek through deeper in -15 or -16 because the unit is not over compensated on the nulling of targets <img src="/metal/html/shrug.gif" border=0 width=37 height=15 alt=":shrug"> makes sense I hope <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">... Im sure it does
I have tried it all on the XS and all the units I use even the XSII
If its trashy I want -15 just so knock the smaller iron nails cause if there is any other metal in there I will hear it all... -16 is ok too but like -15

Another question, is there any difference in how the machine peforms if someone hunts in Iron Mask -16 (essentially wide open) or in the regular SmartFind screen with no descrimination at all?

I remember one merc that I found that was hardly there when I had the default crown caps disc on. Took it off, and it rang loud as a bell.

Well for one thing it lets you hear the good targets amongst the iron as masking is not a problem..With rare exceptions hearing all gives you more depth, but indeed is a noisy mode.I sort of like Brian's post where he varies iron mask depending on the situation at hand.
