I have a friend who has an Explorer XS for sale and I am looking for some input on them. I am not familiar with the XS. I thought I read a post somewhere that said the ex2 went deeper than the xs.With the new se out...now is the time for me to get a second detector (used) at a nice price. I am considering the xs...but not if the ex2 does go a little deeper.

Does the EX2 go deeper than than the older XS? How do they compare?

Nope! The II does not do much at all different than the XS, and neither does the SE. They are allmost all the same machine! A few cosmetic changes, even a few electronic changes, but as for performance! Pretty much the same!
