there a park here in austin called bull creek and on the wqeek end its full of dogs that dont like the sounds of my xs even the golden re trivers chased me
 
As therick said, use headphones, also use them not because of the dogs, but because the constant beeps will annoy people, headphones will also help your detector drain slower the batteries and you'll be able to hear the faint signals. Try the Black Widow headphones if you have trouble with detecting in very noisy areas, they are made to block outside noise, just don't use them at a high risk area since you won't hear someone sneaking up on you. If you're using the Explorer II a pair of UR-30 headphones made by Koss should've been included, they are really good so use them.
