Draped bust half cent

New member
Got out for a short afternoon hunt today. Wanted to take the T2 back to the spot I found a LG cent and gilded wedding band last week. Old homesite way back in the woods. I'm sure there are more coins here, but alot of trash near the house. Took a stroll and about 50 yards from the house got a decent repeatable 80 at about 8". I was thinking IH, but I was pleasantly surprised to see this draped bust pop out. I was very happy as I could immediately read the date of 1804. Unfortunately, the q-tips and peroxide seemed to hurt it more than help. I should have learned my lesson as my LG cent from last week didn't turn out too well either. I tried cold peroxide to get off the dirt and it seemed okay so then I tried hot peroxide just on a q-tip, but it took off a little too much detail.
