Dry Lander headed to beach this fall - Tips?

Ok, first I'm a dry land detectorist but would like to take my XL Pro with me to the Daytona Beach area on our trip this September. So that being said, I've been reading this forum trying to pick up on some tips, hints, etc... on what I need to do.

What is the best area of the surf/beach to hunt? When is the best time? Any Florida laws I need to be aware of? All the questions a newbie would ask....

I don't think they 4x6DD coil would be much help there, but I do plan on picking up a Bigfoot before heading down. I also have a 15" relic coil that goes deep, but would it be of any use on the beach. Or should I stick to the Bigfoot and the stock 9.5"?

I know September is not "prime" vacation season so it may have been picked over well before I get there, but that is when we are off work and going to the condo.

Any suggestions or links to websites with good info would help...

Thanks

Ahmen to that!!!! That's the one drawback to planning a vacation in the "off season" in September. Florida can be a Hurricane magnet. So far we've been lucky and only had to deal with the tail end of near misses.

But that's when I can get off and the kids are out for the week on fall break.
