Dual Field PI questions

So I just recently started Metal Detecting and I currently have a Minelab Safari which I love. Now I live in Myrtle Beach and I have used the Safari with great results and found my first ring! So I am thinking of buying a second machine just for the Beach and was considering a PI machine like the Whites Dual Field. Now I have a few questions I see people are saying to just use it in wet sand and water, So will it still work ok in the dry sand? Next if I am using it in the water what is the best way to dig your hole wont it just keep filling up with sand after every scoop with the beach scooper? Also if you have any other suggestions for a different machine let me know.
Thanks as always for everyones help!!
Dan

Yes the whites dual field can be used on the dry but it is savage amusment, PI machines don't have discrimination so will sound off on all metals, usually in the wet/damp sand and in the water most of this lighter trash has been washed away by wave action and tides, only the heavier objects are left. As to the scoop if its big enough you should get the item in one or two scoops, the hole will only fill in slightly between scoops unless you wait half an hour for the next one.
You might think about the Minelab excalibur, not as deep as the pi but discriminates, all depends on the beach conditions you hunt in.

As a Dual Field user I agree completely!!

I have years of experience with PI machines and believe me you will find manybits of metal on the beach with a PI machine and most of them you don't want!!

These machines are in their element in water that has been heavily hunted and with few items left to find!

On the beach Minlab machines own the sand!

Respectfully,

Agree with all said about the PI's above.

Adding to the scoop information / opinions: In some sands it does fill quickly. When working in choppy water with a short wave interval, sometimes you only get one chance to dig a target. If you miss on the dig, the waves can have you feet from the target and make it difficult to find the same spot on the bottom again. You will see a lot of large deep digging water scoops. They are heavy and probably not what you want to carry around while working dry sand or even damp sand; but they do help make that one scoop a good one.

thanks everyone for the help!! would the Excalbur work about at the same depth as the Safari I have but it would just allow me to get in the water(because it being waterproof)?
Thanks!
