Dust cover mod, a short hunt, and a lead

THE PROJECT
I've been doing one project every week and I'm calling it Concept Friday. I then post my project on my website, Facebook, and G+. This week(I'm late), I tried to make a new dust cover for my X-Terra. I gave up and decided to just modify my Minelab cover. I cut a slot below the coil wire hole. My cover has always been too tight around the bottom anyway. Then I sewed on some Velcro to hold the cover on. Now it easily slips on and off for battery changes.

THE HUNT
I went across the street to the school for a short hunt. The ground is still frozen below 4"....but spring is starting here.:detecting: Found $1.23 in clad and a REALLY ugly copper Poodle pin. Felt good to be detecting again.

THE LEAD
I was showing my cousin some of last year's finds when he asked if I had looked around the old barn. I had a little, but the nails were horrible and I thought it unlikely to find much good around a barn. He said that he and his dad used to dig fishing worms on the NE corner of the barn and they would find old coins there. :surprised: SO....probably somebody's "hidey hole". I'll have to wait a bit more though, until the ground thaws more.

I best dust cover I ever had for the Xterra is a quart size ziplock freezer bag. cut a hole on the side for the headphone jack, slide it over the unit, fold down the top part and tape it to the back. a box of 18 cost around 3 or 4 bucks and I change it about every 2 week. I have a nice clear screen every time I change it. I bought one of those ML dust cover when I first got the xterra and it didn't last me a month before I couldn't see the screen very good.

Ehhh... True.

But if I don't TRY to make something "bad"....better. I never learn anything new.
