Dust Covers for Coil

MEV

New member
What kind of material is made a dust cover for minelabs coils?

Can a dust Coil inter fear with how the detector behaves, can it lose depth?

Thanks

If you are talking about the coil covers that protect the bottom of the coil, mine appear to be plastic and no they will not interfere with detecting and you will lose no depth. I personally like using them to protect the bottom of the coil from scratches because if I ever decide to sell or trade my detector it will not lose value because of a scratched up coil.

I agree with pescadore in that the plastic coil cover protects the coil and keeps the bottom looking nice. Be aware that dirt can get trapped in between the coil and coil cover. As such, it can distort the signal if it gets wet or contains metallic particles. As someone who hunts old farm fields, I take mine off and rinse it out several times a year. I'd suggest those who hunt salt water beaches clean theirs out after each use. JMHO HH Randy

I just put a bead of clear silicone around the rim of my coil cover it will keep out all the sand and dirt and can be removed by just peeling it off.. EASY FIX.
