Some of you may remember I confessed last week that I just can't seem to remember to turn the DX-1 probe back to coil mode after I retrieve a target. The suggestion was brought up to modify the probe toggle so that when you put the probe back in the saddle, it would automatically switch back to coil mode. I liked that idea and wrote to Ralph at SunRay to see if they could modify the design. He said they would not modify the design as he was afraid that moisture and dirt would interfere with the switch. I asked him if an individual modified their own DX-1 probe, would that void the warranty? He said it would void the warranty. He assured me that after some use, it would become second nature to switch the toggle back to coil mode. Well, after hunting Saturday for a couple hours and forgetting to switch the toggle on three different occassions, I am ready to sell it. I don't want to void the warranty on a month old piece of equipment. But I have reached the conclusion that this is one old dog that just can't be taught a new trick. <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry"> So it goes. HH
