I found these last Sunday and Monday over in Illinois before the rains came. Looks like it will be another few days before it dries out around here! The 14D is in great shape and was only 6 inches deep but in BAD ground. The WOT picked it out! The 35P Merc was about 2 feet away from it. The other barber is probably the most worn one I have ever found! It's an 1893S (first one for me). The last coin I thought was going to be a half dime! Turned out to be an 1894 10 Ore from Denmark! Another first for me! I found 3 Indians (88, 96, 04) and 2 wheats (12D, 38P) to go along with these as well as some old flat buttons from a log cabin site. I'll post those later on.

it was dropped the day it was minted.

How lots of seated dimes are worn nearly flat, much fewer barbers, mercs even less seldom, and roosies never. Think it says something about how much time coins needed to circulate to wear that much. I'm guessing to to 40 years or so for a dime to get so thin.

It is in great shape! Still has most of the original mint lustre on it!

You should have some old stagecoach stops and campsites that should produce some nice ones especially relics! Might have to drive a few miles to get to them tho........

Great finds! <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">
