Can anyone tell me what the marking means?
I am thinking it is from England or overseas, and that the 333 is equal to 1/3 of 24 carats.

Any ideas?

That's right, the ring is 8 carats. I think Germany may have 8ct as one of its standards (I think I read that somewhere). Well done!
