Okay fellas...................... We all know that water, moisture and electronic things don't mix. At our club hunt yesterday my Explorer XS was working just fine. After about five hours in a constant downpour that lasted almost all day my machine started acting really weird. It was very unstable and I tried everything to settle it down, but nothing worked. Needless to say I didn't have a backup detector so my detecting day was shot. My buddy let me borrow his backup Whites, but after about an hour of finding nothing I just said the heck with it. Nothing like a Minelab if you know what I mean........
My best discription of how it was acting was it sounded like it didn't know if my X-1 probe switch was suppose to be in the coil mode or the probe mode. Well, after taking the bottom cover off the X-1 switch box I did notice a little bit of water in there. I dried everything out and put it back together and it seems to be working fine now. Do you guys think the water in there might have been the problem? I also noticed that the rubber boot around the switch was split and that is probably how the rain got in there. I pot some silacone around it, but not sure how long it will last. Let me know what you guys think and thanks. HH.
