Elite vs GT

Hi,can some of you experienced guys who used both Elite and GT tell me if the all metal modes are the same for both machines when used in the threshold mode?I thought someone told me that the new GTs have a multi tone in all metal;the same as if it were being used in the descrim mode. And the Elite has just one tone in all metal. As I will be strictly using the machine almost all the time in all metal with threshold for relic hunting. If the GT has this multi tone in the all metal,Im not sure if I want this feature. On very deep targets the GT, in all metal might null out on a good target.Where as I would think a constant tone in the threshold mode would raise ever so slightly on a good deep target.
Please help in my decision making on which way to go.Thanks, Steve

The GT or any of the Sovereigns don't have a multi tone in all metal, but the GT does have ground balance you can set for track or lock it while the Elite does not. This is why if you want to run all metal and want the max depth in mineralized ground the GT would be the best choice. The multi tone is only in the disc mode on all the Sovereigns. The XS2a had a switch to turn off the multi tones in disc if you didn't want the different tones.

Some basics about all metal.........

All metal on all the Sovs has the same kind of audio.....EXCEPT the GT. The GT has the same kind of audio in all metal ONLY in pinpoint.

There are no nulls in all metal with ANY Sov. The audio that I spoke of just above is like this......

The tone and volume both shift up on any target. The stronger the target, the more the shift. The tone shift is not very extreme, but is there.

On the GT in either fixed or track mode, the tone shifts either up or down depending on the conductivity of the target. Objects of lesser conductivity than zincs shift downward, while zincs and higher shift up. This breakover point seems to be about the same as the max discrimination level point when using disc mode.
Volume and tone shift are extreme on strong targets. This is something like VCO audio that will run either up or down from an in between point in frequency. This can be very brutal on your senses in trash, but is much easier to live with in fairly clean areas. Definitely not as simple as the all metal audio with other Sovs.

Thanks guys, for the info.I think this clears it up like mud?I believe Rick is telling me that all the Sovereigns including the GT has a single tone in the all metal mode.Even when used in fixed or track?
And Art says that the GT is the only Sovereign that has multi -tones when used in the all metal mode. And one tone in the pin point position.Boy o boy, this sounds sooooooooo confusing. Help, Steve

You asked about all metal, so I did not elaborate on the difference between all metal and disc mode audio. They are very different....not the same kind of response at all.

Rick over simplified while I left out disc mode all together while elaborating on all metal only.

So are you saying the Threshold tone changes in all metal from the high tone for conductive targets to low tone for iron targets.
And in discriminate mode you have multi tones.

So what about depth do you notice in all metal that you lose some depth?
Thanks Steve0

Easy part of your question first....
Disc mode can be a bit more sensitive than all metal around here, provided the dirt is very well compacted. All metal is quite a bit more sensitive than disc if the dirt is loose or not too well compacted.
This will vary with location.

The shifting tone in all metal search modes........
All metal tone is the same in both pinpoint and search modes when no target is present.
The all metal tone (search modes) will shift up or down based on conductivity of the target. Zincs and higher shift up while lower than zincs shifts down. Every thing below zincs shifts down, iron included.
The amount of shift (up or down) depends on the strength of the hit. The stronger the hit, the more the shift.

The volume will also increase along with the amount of the shift.....
The more shift (up or down), the louder it gets. Weak hits are faint with no volume increase, but the tone still shifts.

This is all about like VCO audio to some extent. Most VCO's start low and weak then swing upward in tone and volume on any hit.
The GT starts out with the tone in a mid range and can swing either up or down from this point.
