Minelab is coming out with a new Explorer SE. It is identical to the SE model, only thing different is the new light weight coil.
I don't know how true this is but It's news now.

Personally, I don't think the SE is any better than the EX II and XS in regard to depth and target ID at depth, in fact...I hated the SE compared to the EX II due to the increased sensivitity to EMI, jumpier ID , pinpoint, target bounce issues, and sounds...etc. I think it really needs a complete makeover to reduce the weight and markedly improve the balance (like an X-terra 90) to compete with the newer machines out there---F-75--but still be of better build quality like Minelabs surely are...JMHO. I'd like to see a super balanced lightweight machine that ID's like an EX II with real time updating of the digital and smartscreen cursor without the extra sensitivity of the SE...we all have our likes and dislikes for sure but it is appreciated that Minelab continues to innovate but many of the major issues with an Explorer still not have been addressed and may never be with costs escalting so high for everything :(...HH

Improvements they need to make are to.....

enhance the screen so you can see it better

install a faster processor so the recovery time improves

provide a more stable coil to cut down on the falsing

These couple of things would make it worth buying!

Personally, I'm finding this hard to swallow. Why would they come out with a new machine and only lighten the coil?????
Why not Lighten the whole machine.

n/t

I kind of wished I had not moved up to the SE myself. I was very happy with the XSII. But I thought it was going to be lighter for this old body. In a way it is with the Slimline. Like I said above, I don't quite believe they'd come out with a new machine and only lighten the coil. My hunting Buddy has the XSII and we hunt side by side. It's hard to see any difference other than the coil weight.

Yep, it's true. Officially releasing very soon. A pre-release news video clip is on MLOTV, and more official and detailed information will follow very soon.
