EMI falsing noise problem

I noticed the other day i started getting noise that sounded like EMI. However i was on a fresh water beach and i know there wasnt anything there. I cleaned my coil cover, noise balanced, and even reduced my sensitivity.... didnt help. If i shut it off and turned it on it seemed to be ok for some time. I also have noticed ... rarely when i noise cancel does the channel ever come up anything but channel 6. I have the X-1 probe on and when i disconnected the coil from it it still had a continued EMI falsing. Shouldnt i get NO noise if i disconnect from the coil? Ralph... do you think its the X-1?
