Entry Level , new fella ?

mr wack

New member
Good morning folks as I mention above I'm a complete greenhorn at this detecting pastime although I have wanted to do it for a while.
Anyway I bought a delta 4000 a couple of weeks ago and having fun playing in my yard with it, but I want some headphones and I am a little confused about what / which ones are compatible with my machine .
If the connection to the machine is a 1/4" will any of them work on my machine ?.
I'm having a hard time deciding on what set to get , remembering I'm the " entry level guy " and don't have a wheel barrow full of $$$$ to spend .
Can I get some suggestions on what might suit my needs ( to start with anyway)?.
I thank you all and have a great weekend...:pulltab:

If I had to pick a pair it would be a set of Jolly Rogers or a set of Grey Ghost I've used both and loved both sets and they both perform great on Teknetics machines.

Thx junior , I was looking around the net at reviews and such and those 2 you mention seem to very popular ,.
love that name Jolly Roger,,,,

I have Jolly Rogers. I started out with a set of basic treasure wise headphones that were included with a metal detector purchase. I thought they were pretty good for the price but not that comfortable (ear muffs too small) and I didn't care for the separate volume controls (I want same volume levels in both ears controlled by one rotary knob). I didn't want to spend a fortune and wanted something good. Some probably have better sound than the Rogers but I like mine. Angled connector, thick spiral cord that never tangles, single volume control and a mute switch. They are very comfortable. You could probably get by with something less expensive made more for music than detection (Koss UR ??? were often mentioned on these forums). If you think you are going to keep the hobby up for some time, might as well invest in a headphone that is designed for metal detecting.

I feel the headphones and pointer are just about as important as the detector itself.

Well I think I've caught the bug and your right I might as well get something that'll work best in the long run, I already have a pro-pointer II and just using it has shown me what a difference good accessories make , well I did try to find something the other day with it by picking up handfuls of dirt in my left hand and I was getting all kinds of good signals for ages until I realized it was my Gold wedding band,,,, rookie mistake , but I'm learning,,,,, slowly .
Thanks Fella's you have made my up for me, just like the good lady always does,,,,,

Your welcome Mr Wack and welcome to the forum. Those wedding bands attached to the finger sure will make a detector or pinpointer sound off loud and clear. LOL
