Eric....a question?

Contemplating swapping on a 14" ML mono coil on my GQ. Would I be gaining any benifits over the 11 inch stocker? I'm strictly a beach hunter. Your opinions if any would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob,
I tried a 14in Coiltek DD on the beach, but I didn't really get on with it. It gives about the same range as a 11in mono but the pinpointing is a lot less precise. Unless the beach has iron mineralised sand, there doesn't seem to be any advantage; plus it is heavier. Personally, I would stick with a mono. However, if you have a DD on hand, there is no harm in trying it.
Eric.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the quick response but I was asking about a 14 inch mono coil. Would this coil be too large for the GQ to handle on a beach? By the way I do have an earlier GQ.

Hi Bob,
Sorry, I missed the mono part of your post. Guess it was because there has been much discussion of DD's recently. Yes, a 14in mono should work OK and possibly gain a couple of inches in depth, on a medium ring, over the 11in coil. You may have to retard the delay a bit, to around 15uS.
Eric.

What would your thoughts be about a 10 x 17 MONO eliptical coil? I'm kinda leaning towards this one because they are waterproof. I appreciate the fact you are taking time from your busy day to answer me.
Thanks again
Bob
