Eurotek pinpoint recovery

SkiWhiz

Active member
I noticed the other day that it takes the Eurotek a little time to recover after pinpointing. The Eurotek is quick but I found that after pushing the pinpoint button to pinpoint a target then releasing it and swinging the coil over the target again it would be silent for about a second and a half or so. It's no big deal just something that I noticed. After reading the post where the fella mentioned that there is a mark on the DD coil that shows where the coils sweet spot is I didn't need to use the pinpoint button very often.

I noticed the same thing on mine, well the one I had. My new one will be here Tuesday :)

There is a slight delay when switching from point point mode back to discrimination mode.

Hey Steve,

It sounds like you are having fun with the Eurotec:thumbup:

Will your Wife ever get a chance to use her detector?

Steve------My Euro has that short little "lag" time when coming out of p.p. also.---Mine also has a tiny bit of lag time going into p.p. but it's shorter than the time coming back out of p.p.-----I just checked our GB Pros & they have that short little lag time coming out of p.p. but on them there is no lag going in.-----Interesting huh?--Make up of the machines I guess, I wouldn't be concerned with it.

Hey Del, could that possibly mean that the Eurotek machines might share some similar circuits with the GB machines? It would explain their iron working abilities.

with all of the Greek Series models. There might be some subtle differences, model-to-model, but it's there.

Good question Bucksport & it would take someone like a Dave J to answer it. :)------I just know that the Eurotek Pro (in some respects) reminds me a LOT of my beloved GB Pro & that is (one) of the reasons I am drawn to it.-----I'm just amazed that FT can turn out such a great little machine with the features it has AND sell it at such a very reasonable price.----It might not be a machine for just everybody but we sure like it--huh!!

Hi Randy, hope all is well out your way. The Eurotek is fun, as I mentioned the slight delay is not a big deal but after using Tesoro's for so long it is something that I noticed and had to adjust to. My wife doesn't care for it (yet), it is the first that she has ever used a DD coil, I showed her where the little mark on the coil is that shows where the sweet spot is and I think that she might do better with it next time. We have the round 8" concentric coil coming for it, should be here by the end of the week. I am interested in trying each coil out in the same area's to compare them.

Get out there & have some fun tectin Monte--you're spendin to much time behind the computer!-----I oughta talk!-----Is it raining up there?---We've been getting our share down here lately.----Stop in & see us when you come thru, we'll be in town for a few more days.---We're heading up north shortly (if the weather ever improves). ;)--------Del

Hello you all, I thought it would be OK to chime in.

Are you referring to the re-tune window, or is it something else? When you release the Pin Point button, instead of going immediately back to Discrimination, you enter a time window called re-tune window.
During that re-tuning time you will see a "t" displayed on the screen. The re-tune window's is about a second long.

While you are in the re-tune window, the Eurotek Pro gives you a chance to approach the coil to the target and press the Pin Point button again before going back into Discrimination mode. It will then narrow your search width to the position of the coil. You can repeat the procedure several times until your search width locks right on top of your target.

To test it, press the Pin Point button and get a target close to the coil until you get a sound. Then, release and press the pinpoint button quickly. You will notice your target sounds only when is closer to the coil than what it was before. Repeat the operation until you can only hear the target when is right on top of the coil. In real practice it will help you narrow your search and bring your coil directly on top of your target.

When the re-tuning window expires, the Eurotek Pro displays a "d" for a moment indicating that it is now entering Discrimination mode.

You are all correct -- the feature is also there in the frat brothers and the Gold Bug.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for explaining this so well, it helped me to understand and I am sure it helped others also. I keep notes of things to know about detectors and your post will certainly be added. Thanks again. P.S. The 8" coil for the Eurotek Pro came in and my wife tried it out a school early last night and she really liked it, now she is happy with the detector.

That explains it perfectly. Thanks for that :) Kind of like how the pinpoint works on the Tesoro Outlaw.
