Eurotek Pro iron disc. 1-39?

I am trying to understand the significance of the 1-39 ID of iron discrimination. What is a 1? What is 15? What is 39? Is it a size difference? Mass? Anybody know? Why such a wide spread of numbers for iron? Please help. Thanks. Eurotek pro!

Mass, shape, etc. Try with a few rusty nails on the ground and you should be able to disc them out at 15-18 depending on size and shape. A bent rusty, haloed nail will fool the best machine and operator from time to time. I usually just try to run enough disc to knock out small bits of rusty nails, fence etc because some of the cool iron relics may range in the 20-40 range depending on size, shape and depth.
