ex2 coils

Find lots of loot!!...Don't leave those iffy signals un-looted..the rig doesn't lie ( Why wonder if you should have dug that ) dig everything...

I don't see much a difference between the 12" and 14" I think the 12" is more sensitive with the same depth

Good Luck

The new EQ2 10x14 is a well made coil and I have been very impressed with it. If you are looking for a large coil that has a nice balance to it, I would certainly recommend this one.

Was not very impressed with the 14 inch Excellerator, my Sun Ray 12 gets better depth, is lighter, and get's better separation, but yes the 10x14 Excellarator is a very nice coil and compares nicely with the SR 12, not quite the same depth as the SR12, but close. I have 2 WOTS and I'm not incredibly impressed with them, not because they are bad coils, but it seems I have to be in extremely non trashy, unmineralized ground for the SE to really make full use of them. In most cases, in light trash, in average soils, I'll get the same depth out of my smaller SR12, 10 x 14 EXcell coils and better separation than with the WOTS. But I will find a specific use for the WOTS and then I will be glad I have them. Such as an old park I found that's no longer open but the river flooded and silted in, now if there isn't too much trash, maybe a monster coil could suck out an 18 inch deepie coin purse, who knows? But if you throw trash into that scenario and now the 15 inch is too big and a slightly smaller coil might see between the trash and be able to pick out a target at sufficient depth that would be masked to the larger coil. Change the moisture content in the soil or add some over head power lines and you're off on another set of entirely different results. That's is the single greatest thing about the Explorers, there are all different types and sizes of coils available so that it can be adjusted for all types of different hunting situations. But I Will say this as plainly as possible, I've never had a problem with any of the Sun Ray products I own, and I have had problems with all of the others, so if I were to choose between two close in size coils, between Sun Ray and any other manufacturer, my vote would sway to Sun Ray, as their coils are usually lighter and consistently better quality. Not to take anything from the other manufacturers cause I own all of their coils as well, but some people can't do that, and for them I would tell them to pick Sun Ray first.

I bought and used an Excelerator 12" and was blown away by the depth. I found a dime at the deepest measured depth I've ever found in 30 years of detecting!

At that depth, the I.D. jumped around a bit, but there was no doubt about the audio signal. The digital readings varied from dime to cent, but all were in the 'dig it 'cause its a coin' range.

I also noticed that I could crank up sensitivity quite a bit ( 29-32) and still maintain stability.
The balance and weight was just fine for me as well. I hunt slowly so even heavier coils don't bother me, but I wouldn't necessarily label that 12" as heavy at all (to me).
