excal gone bad

I was searching the beach in Florida when an unexpected storm came up. Making my way back to the car, still searching of course, a bolt of lighting over head, made my excal start screaming. Since then, it has never worked. May have been a close call for me, but I think it nailed my excal. Any idea how I can repair it without sending it back to Minelab. The machine is about 7 years old.

Sounds like you have damage. Basically the coil acts like an antenna and the control box the receiver. I would think you would have felt something if it affected the excal. But the front end circuitry is really sensitive and you probably damage some diodes.
You will have to send it to mindlab. They will probably change the mother board. Run about $300+
