EXCAL II

Hello fellow detectorist, I just purchased a Excal II for the ocean, I have been using the AT PRO for the dirt. My Question is do any of you use the Excal II for land digging ? All I have ever seen on forums is people using it for the salt water, All input will be greatly appreciated . THANK YOU.

works fine in the dirt :detecting:

It wouldnt be my preferred machine for dirt. Recovery is to slow and unlike the Sov you cant put a meter on it or change coils or upgrade the headphones easily. There are much better and cheaper machines with TID for picking thru trash. Its a simple mahine with limited ability for adjustment... great for the beach, not so much for dirt. But it is a metal detector and if thats all you have yes it will work.

I use the Excal II on the beach. Since I dig everything above Iron at the beach it is the ideal (For Me) machine. However as has been said you cant change anything (easily) on the machine. I do not like the headphones. Personal Opinion is that they are JUNK.

The Excal will work on dry land just as well as at the beach if you want to dig everything. It would drive me crazy in some of the junky parks that I hunt. I use the Sovereign GT for my dry land hunting and I carry an assortment of coils along so I can fit the machine to the environment that I am hunting. Also I put one of Ron's 180 meters on the GT so that I would have a visual reference as well as the tones.

Can the Excaliber be used anywhere. Yes of course. However there are certainly much better ways to detect dry ground.

Hi Sgt.Pepper, I used my EXCALIBUR 800 Years Ago, when that is the ONLY detector that I had at the time, and IT Performed just FINE!! I found my First MUSKETBALLS, Colonial
Buttons, King George-I Copper, and a PRISTINE 1918 MERCURY Dime!! But, I also have an AT-Pro, and that is my NEW Choice for DIRT Detecting!! Although, I have
NOT had a chance to TRY IT out yet, due to a Very HARSH WINTER!! My opinion, use EXcAL-2 for SALTWATER Environment, and AT-Pro for DIRT Environment!!
Hope this HELPS, Les Robinson.
