Excal or Excal II

unearth

Member
Hello All-
Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the two units, Excal and Excal II, and has a preference of one over the other? I was thinking of getting one of the units, but which one? Is the difference of the Excal II worth the extra money? Any help on this would be appreciated.

My dealer who has gone to the Caribbean for two weeks, has sold a lot of the IIs but he still uses the old reliable Excalibur. I think if you are starting out and an 100% sure you're going to stay with the hobby. It would make more sense to buy the new Excal II and be done with it. It's not a machine you're going to ware out , so why not have the best of the best?

Gary, the difference isn't that much monetarily, and when considering you have a maximum 3 year warranty on any new Excal, I'd go with the new model II as the updates are there for a reason. I've been with the Excal since it's inception, and it remains one of the best underwater detectors made. Just a few improvements can be slight, but well worth it.
Good hunting,
David
