Excalibur 800 Batteries

Surfline

New member
Dear Forum,

I would like to get some input on rechargeable batteries for the Excal 800. I have used AA batteries, but they only last so long. The rechargeable battery pod lists for about $100. Any experience or ideas out there for alternatives?

Thanks,

Surfline

Follow instructions on method of charging. Some folks have gone to Batteries Plus and had them make up a rechargeable pac which costs less than the $100.00 for another battery.

Good luck.

But they are no longer making them because of quality problems with the
pack. It is a great one and lasts about 30 hours and does not have a memory like the NiCads. The rechargeable one that comes with the Excal is good, but does not last as long on a charge and you have to bring them down to the death squeal every time or the charge will not last as long.

you might be able to have someone make up a pack using them. The top current available from a Name brand like Eveready and Duracell is 900mah which will give you about 12hours between charges plus you don't have to run them all the way down before recharging. I have been using them to run my Explorer and my Sov GT for years without any problems. My first pack was just retired and it was 7 years old. I had used it on my waterproof Explorer since the Summer of 2000. Back then they only had 750mah batteries and I could only get about 8 ours of hunt time between charges which was fine since I rarely hunt more than 5 hours at a time and I always recharge before going out on a hunt so I know I have fully charged batteries. There is nothing more annoying than getting out on the beach and having your batteries run down. Sorry for the long POST. But 10 AAA NIMH's will easily run you Excalibur.
