Excalibur for relic hunting

Kirk

New member
Anyone here use an Excalibur for relic hunting. I am mainly a beach hunter, but I am going on a relic hunt in VA. Any hints as to what settings to use or start with. I have been using 0 discrimination, audible threshold and the sensitivity set at 11 or 12 o'clock which seems to work fine at our beaches.
Thanks,
Kirk

Well as you know the Exc is a waterproof sov.Keep your setting as youve described them and you shuold be able to do just fine. You may have to adjust your sensitivity a tad for the soil that your hunting on .Good luck! HH

Kirk,

In Feb of this year, I was involved in an archaeological survey, and the ground was really bad.

Most single frequency machines there really couldn't ground balance on the site properly due to the high mineralization.

The CZ machines worked alright there. I think it has something to do with the dual frequency of those machines.

I pulled out my Excal with 10-inch Tornado coil. 0 DISC. and set to pin-point. Sensitivity was set to MAX.

The only trouble I encountered was cross-talk with the Fisher machines. Also, only when they were about 20 feet from me. I had 2 Fisher machines to contend with. It really wasn't that bad either.

In my opinion, it worked out really well for relic hunting. I do have my Excal set on a custom rod and have Grey Ghost headphones, and so it was comfortable enough to use all day.

I used the machine in pinpoint mode and would find a target, and to keep from digging small iron, I would switch to DISC and see if the signal nulled out. If not, I would dig. ** I didn't experience this first hand, but if the signal dis-appears, dig to see if it's a really deep target.
