Excalibur vs. Excalibur II Advice please

Am presently looking to buy a used Minelab Excal. detector and in my research, seem to sense that there might be some advantages of the older Excal model over the newer Excal II. I would appreciate any advice those of you "in the know" might be able to provide me to help me make up my mind. What are the differences aside from color?
Anyone have one for sale?
Thanks!
JD

There are two different sized coils. I think a 10 is standard and some of them a 8 inch. You wan't a 10 inch to start with depending on your hunting area.

iv owned 4 Excal's.the last 2 being Excal's ll....iv found no diff between them all except i do like the new Excal ll coil much better.its thinner and cuts the water much better and the NIMH battery system is better than the old NICAD system. in the water i like the 800..8" coil better and for the beach i like the 1000...10"coil..both are great detectors!

Bling, i am in the market for a used excall or II. My question is that I see you have had multiple of both. That makes me nervous, are you having issues with these?

i have seen some on ebay .....that's where i got mine excal 1000 and i love it ..just last friday and saturday i found 3 ring 1 earing gold

never had not 1 problem with any Minelabs..i just want to try them ALL! and i have. and have found for me ,nothing is as good as the Sovereign GT and S12 coil on the beach..iv got an old Elite i wouldnt sell ever! my GT is great, only problem is the worry of "if it rains" how to keep it dry.i put the Elite in a water proof box for rain days..if they made the Excal ll in a water proof box like the Tiger Shark id buy 3 of them! i like the abillity to change coils and head phones.iv found 98 rings this year (only 4 in the water ) and owe it all to Minelab's.(did find 2 with the CZ21). good luck!
