Hello I would like to know better about excelerator 18 for explorer. I know its big and heavy, but how about performance? its sensitive to bumps? how its behaves on beaches? thank you Stasys

n/t

98% or more of your sites don't have stuff deep enough for a coil like that. Maybe 100%. BUT if you have some sites that really produce lots of old stuff down around 10" or so then it might worth a try.

Hi Stasys,
I use a 14 inch Excellorator coil about 50% of the time. I find that the coils larger than that don't give me any more depth but do have difficulty separating targets. One thing I may add is that I use the larger coil only on specific sites. I would not any time tell anyone to go hunt a park with a larger coil unless they know that the coins are deeper than they can hit with the 10x12 sef or pro coil. The bigger coil takes some learning time and if you have lots of targets and trash then you would do better with a smaller coil. If you are on a beach then I would say yes as you can cover more area and the targets are far apart usually.

Just my 2 cents, good luck.

thanks all! but i know that is not deeper, or a bit deeper which is not very important for me, i interesting how is sensitive to bums and mineralizations, and if somebody use it where it use and what advantages? more ground covering? thanks Stasys

Ok here are some pros and cons. If depth is not your intention then it may not be a bad buy if the price is right. My experience with the 18" truck steering wheel is this. As with any large coil it will (see) more ground so if you are in highly mineralized ground it will have a hard time. You will have to bump your sensitivity down some. It is no good in trashy areas as it sees to many targets at once. If you have some nice open fields to hunt then it works good. You will be able to cover more ground for sure. Being an open coil and due to its size it is hard to swing in any vegetation or corn stubble. I found no problem pinpointing with it. This monster will wear you out. If you use it alot you can expect to get Popeye arms. Its weight also puts a strain on your machine. Your lower shaft will bend with every swing and this can cause problems with the connection at the housing. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this coil a 3. For me there were more cons than pros. I'll sell ya mine.
