Explorer and new SUN RAY X-5 deadly combo!

Hey everyone, just wanted to post about the new coil I tried this week at a old park that me and my son have been detecting for a couple weeks. The good finds were getting harder to locate in all the trash and iron that this place has to offer so after reading all of Bryce's post on different coils he has used and doing some research on the internet, I decided on the Sun Ray X5! Let me tell you it was amazing the stuff this little coil found in the littered grass of this old park! Places where me and my son had detected before, me with the standard SE Pro coil and my son with his stock coil on his XLT, This coil was just picking the goodies out!:) I would flag some of the targets out for my son to check out and he couldn't lock on to any target. And I couldn't believe the depth this little coil has, just unbelievable! The one Merc was a easy 6 to 7 inches! To say I'm exited is a understatement! Thanks Minelab, and thanks Sun Ray, can't wait till next week!

I found that out last fall! That coil KILLS!
And...I found that exact silver ring last year.
CONGRATS!!!! :clapping:

Man everyone is finding large cents! nice finds!

Thanks guys, That was my 3rd large cent I have found its a 1851, not in the best shape but I'll take it. Found one a couple of years ago, a 1853 it was beautiful except were I put a big gash right down the middle of it! It's kinda a long story!

Great post, good going!

[size=large]ya did good but your son was hampered. get him the 5.3 coil for his XLT and watch his finds go up also. just to be fair. it's really great you get to hunt with him.

Nice Finds Josey..wow you got some nice ones..Waaaaaay to go

I use the 4.5 x 7 excellerator coil on my SE........I've popped a lot of silver out of the heavily trashed sites with it..My hunting buddy had a 5" Sunray on his SE and also did very well with it..

John in Va..

It is amazing what you miss with the bigger coils isn't it?

It truly opened my eyes to what a small coil will sniff out if you are patient enough.

i guess i need a smaller coil to play with nice finds i,ve got my pro coil and a 10 by 12 sef they work great most places but know some spots to try a smaller coil at nice post

Nice hunt. I'm going to try one of Bryce's small coils and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies guys, this little coil is simply amazing in the trash! I went back after work today, couldn't wait for the weekend! I hunted for almost four hours, I dug 3 mercury's, 1 rosie and 2 wheaties and about 5 nails in a small spot where I worked hard with my stock SE pro coil and my son also hit it hard with his XLT. The first merc. I dug today, I looked down and about a inch away was a plug where my son had dug on a previous outing! It definitly has made me a believer! Does anyone know about the performance on a small coil for the Whites XLT? That's probably a question for the Whites forum, but my son is wondering about that after this weekend!
