Those of you who hunt relics Do you use the Iron Mask mode or hunt with Detect but modify it to accept iron objects?
Or how do you dig up iron or not?

I hunt in IM almost all the time. I go very slowly in IM -8 then change to IM -13. Try to change your angle often, look for the HALO effect with a good signal mixed in.
When I hunt for huts, I always open it wide open...IM -16 and dig all the iron. I get a smile when I find cut/square nails. Find the bottom of hut then go to the sides carefully.
This was my last hunt. Pretty sure it's Confed. Good luck and keep posting. Rick.

i always hunt in iron mash even with the 10.5 loop. i do thumb back to a coins program and back again to iron mask. mostly i hunt real trashy places where other seem to pass right over. works for me i pretty much set up the other controls to the type of area i detect. one thing i did do is switch to manual sens at all times. back it down to where the machine runs stable. you have to play with it a few times a day. its worth the trouble my finds went off the chart!

I modify the Smartfind screen for a number of reasons even if I have the screen completely open. I don't care for the all or nothing way you set the iron mask. On the Smartfind screen I can duplicate any Iron Mask screen setting but then modify the setting. I then use the Iron Mask screen as a second Iron Maks for the all or nothing setting at a paticular mask then hunt in Smartfind and turn iron mask on or off to aid in ID of a target. In addition, a modified iron mask in the Smartfind screen can be saved in a memory S location while and Iron Mask screen cannot be saved.
