Explorer II all decked out

Boony

New member
Hi Guys,

The Sun Ray X1 turned up today, got the EX II all set up with the big 15" ready for the park on Thursday. Now there is a bit more weight in the handle the detector balances better with the 15" WOT than the Platypus, can't wait to try that probe.

All the best.....Boony

Nice setup - i like your X1 pinpoint probe thats a thing i sure would like for my explorer 2 , i am going to get one later this year hopefully. They are very expensive i see but i can see the need for one to speed up recovery times..

The sooner the better, that is the key. Detecting with a X-1 Probe is a critical part of detecting due to the faster and safer recovery of coins or what have you. I can't even imaging detecting without this vital part for the Explorer. Ask anybody if they regret buying there X-1 Probe and they will surely agree that buying the probe for the Explorer is one of the best things you could buy for an upgrade for your detector.

Looks good. One suggestion, make sure you get into the habit of double checking that your X-1 probe is switched back to the coil position after each time you use it.

I'm telling you now that you're going to be doing some detecting with the probe still switched to the probe position. Make sure you smile when it happens  .

Thanks Randy for the tip, I know it will happen, just have to be careful.

Thanks again.......Boony

Looks great Boony. I sure hope you have one of those swingy thing's because I think you are going to need one with all that weight unless you have arms like Popeye..........:) Let us know how that WOT works our for you. HH.

Went back to the park this morning, picked up $28.80 in coins, one mood ring, one gold ring or ear ring, not sure which, and a nice silver ring, swung the EX II with the X1 probe and 15" WOT for about three hours (without a swingy thing) no trouble at all. The probe is brilliant extremely good for picking out stuff in the more trashy areas of the park, don't know how I managed without it, thanks Sun Ray.

Very nice Boony. WTG!! I will bet you that if you swing that 15" coil all day long without a swingy thing that your arm will definitely get tired. HH.

Hi therick,

The Shell is a Leopard Tank case with a 105mm Howitzer projectile in it, because I couldn't find a Leopard Projectile and yes it is empty, the case beside it is a 5 inch Navy shell, I used to have a substantial collection of this stuff but sold it off, at our local gun show, ( it went like hot cakes). I had to sell it locally as Australia Post gets very upset if you try to mail that sort of stuff.
I have noticed on the forum that there are not many USA silver dollars recovered with the detectors, is this because they are so big that people didn't drop them, I purchased one recently for my coin collection, an 1880 Morgan very impressive coin it would be great to be able to dig them, all we have here in old coins is half Penny, Penny ( copper), threepence, sixpence, shilling, and florin (Silver), our new coins start at five cents and finish at $2, they discarded the one and two cent coins, All our coins are now made from a mix of copper, Aluminium, and nickel, however the $2 coins are about the size of a dime but thicker and hide nicely in the grass, they also add up quickly when you start to pick up a few.

Hi RingProfessional,

Hit the parks mate, pick up all the clads and that X1 will be paid for in no time, here it's like walking on a carpet on one and two dollar coins,

All the best.... Boony
