Explorer II Bags A Few Keepers

Happy new year everybody!

It's been a while since I posted here. I hunted the beach all summer with my Excal and a little, early on, with the Explorer II. And I haven't gotten out much this fall so far, but hope to change that henceforth.

I went out with my buddy Darren today, to an old military housing site that was bulldozed a few years back. It dates to the 40's and it's VERY trashy. He was using his Sovereign and I had my Explorer II and also brought my Fisher CZ-70. I started with my CZ and bagged a few wheaties and then figured I'd try the Explorer II, despite the HUGE amount of trash. Hunted in IM -16 for a while and got a few wheaties from the 40's. Got tired of listening to the sonic symphony after a while, so went to a mostly coins pattern and hunted mostly in null for a while. Pulled a nice 1943 Merc out. The I got a few more wheaties and the token shown. All the wheaties were from the late 30's to early fifties and pretty well trashed. I know there's more silver out there but you really have to work for it. It's tough hunting but the Explorer II did surprisingly well in all the trash and I used it more than the CZ which I had assumed would be my choice, given the heavy trash.

We both ended up with about a dozen wheaties and some clad. There's a WHOLE lot more ground out there to hunt. We'll be back!

Here are some pics I took.

Yeah, it definitely IS a keeper. That's my wife's '95, with 173,000 miles on it and still going strong. Amsoil synthetic lube throughout, of course.

And then this is my '97...still a pup with only a little over 80K on the clock.

And then there's my '91 Mustang...bought it brand new and it has 223,000 on the ticker. Runs as good as it ever did. Better, even. Bigtime keeper!
