Explorer II coil

Hi Folks,
Just got a minty Explorer II with standard old coil. I was thinking to change it with a SEF 12x10...or the new stock coil Pro DD 11" is better?
Let me know.
All the best.

Im partial to the 10 X 12 also, but... there are those who believe the standard coil made for the II was one heck of a coil and they are always looking for them. I like the SEF just because i dont think weight difference and a little stability is worth the price difference between the two.

How long have you had the Ex2? Asking only because the 1050 coil is a great coil and if you've not got the hang of the system IMHO I'd stick with the 1050 for at least the first six months. Heck I still use the 1050 as a change up, I think it's the king coil on nickels and Indian pennies because she always seems to lock in hard and fast on them.

But if you're a hit w/ the Ex2 already then you can't go wrong with either the Pro or the SEF, I own both coils, have used them since about the time they came out, and both are very good coils. Heck, don't forget to think about the Sunray x12, I own it too, it's a very good coil, as easy to swing as the Pro, and it is super sensitive to small and deeply buried stuff.

That explorer 2 coil is a good coil. I use it on my XS and it has been kind to me. I am thinking of other coil options too but the 1050 coil is a good choice to stay with.

Thank You for reply, guys.
I've just got it delivered...and tested its balance. Stock coil looks too heavy...
I think that I will turn to a SEF 10x12.
Thank you again.
Ale

The new coils are better balanced ... but if you find the 10 X12 extra heavy, make your rod shorter. You think the standard coil LOOKS heavy... wait till you see that big O 10 X 12.
