I have been using the explorerI for over 3 years,My finds are with the xsI are great. The explorerII IS A DIFFRENT STORY.I usally use manual 20,conductive,factory gain and sound, iron mask at 6 or 7.my finds with the new explorer II are not as old as the xsI or as prolific.I have had this unit for almost 2 years and have devoted the last 8 months of serious weekend hunting.I have found silver and a colonial penny but I'M thinking the xsII can do better.Any advise will be appreciated! Thanks John

Hi John,
I thought just the opposite when I got my EII. The quicker response helps find more goodies. All in all though I think the edge over the XS is a small one.

A couple suggestions may help you out. I would bump up your gain a couple notches and set your iron mask to around 12. I can never remember the number for sure since I rarely change. I just use a tiny strip of iron mask, maybe an eighth of an inch wide.

The only other thing is that maybe you are not hitting as productive of spots as you were with the XS. Did you hunt out the parks with the XS? You will not pick up much missed stuff with the EII. You could try a different size coil or hit it at a different angle.

Hope this helps. HH - Robin

Hello Robin,
Thanks for the tips I will try bumping up the gain and the iron mask.Maybe my expectations are too high? The sites I have been searching are a mixture of my old hunts and some new locations that date very old (for Ohio).I did expect to find a few coins from my local hunted out sites for the most part that wasn't the case.I just bought an 8" coil on thursday and I'll try that this week.Nice quarter and great token you found!Hopefully I will be a posting member of this forum again. Thanks
John

Throw a WOT coil on that there machine and swing slow.....oh so slooooooooow!!! IM at-14/15 gain at 6/7. Just my 2 cents worth!
