Explorer II or DFX Like to hear some pro & cons; Which one to buy?

Go with the explorer. Have tried both, the explorer is a better detector.

i couldn't decide which one to buy so i got the dfx mainly because of build quality.it's a great detector and i'm thoroughly happy with it but i still wanted an explorer so i bought a used one.what i found was that the build quality wasn't as bad as i'd been led to believe.it feels a bit heavier but i think that's just a balance problem.i love the explorer!i use them both and if i were to have to sell one it would be a tough decision as to which one would go.if you have back, shoulder or elbow problems i'd go with the dfx.it seems a bit more comfortable to use.as for depth,i can't say as i've seen a big difference in the two in my ground here.they both go deep if properly set up.the dfx in factory presets is mediocre at best.as for target id,i personally like the graph and vdi numbers of the dfx better than the crosshair setup on the explorer but they both have great tone id which is what i rely on 99 percent of the time anyway.ease of use i'd have to give to the xs.it's rock solid from one site to the next, just turn it on and hunt.the dfx on the other hand can be contrary and need adjusting from one site to the next.i don't know what your level of experience is or how fast you learn but for me the dfx was tougher to learn (notice i didn't say master)than the xs.perhaps it just seems that way because i started with the dfx and most of the basics of getting the most out of the dfx also apply to the explorer.this dfx vs. xs debate has been going on for a long time with no clear "which is best".it's a matter of personal preference so just pick one and get your hands dirty!it's not like you're gettin married, you can have more than one!

seems to me you want us to convince you to buy the explorer.well ok,get the explorer!

but from what i've heard the quatro is a good detector.you should be set,dfx and quatro, you're bound to like one of them!

Heck could probably add a few more top of the line and could have a good argument pro or con on any of them..Might want to visit a multi line dealer or perhaps bring it up at a club meeting..Heck I have used a bunch over the years and an Explorer has the best guts of any on the market..Might want to bring this up on a multi line forum for less biased opinions..Good luck in your choice...

Just my opinion. But I have hunted with people that had one or the other. When doing comparisons I have found the MXT to be a better machine. Its cheaper, goes deeper, and is easy to use. IMHO
