Explorer question about se vs se pro

petew

New member
I had what I was told was a se pro last year.had the pro coil.
I sold it before I understood it,and regretted that.So I recently bought a explorer se and it's on the way,it looks mint. Now,the coil looks different but the machine looks identical to the se pro I had.
Is the coil the only difference?it's been debated on what I've read in other post.
And is the stock se coil as good as the pro coil?If not then I will buy a good coil, but if there's something better than the pro coil, someone please let me know.I'm after depth, and good tones.thanks

Gee I had more noise with the pro coil that comes with the pro model as standard equipment...Heard of some going back to the original explorer coil, guess it depends on your ground...

The PRO coil is the same that is on the Etrac and is the good coil to have. The original SE coils were like the original Explorer heavy coils and some were no good so they switched after a year or so at the factory to the new Pro Coil on the SE like the Etrac after the Etrac came out.
