has now been hunted in the exact places that I have hunted for the last 6 years. I've hunted this ground with: Whites 6000 DI, three Bounty Hunter Series, the Tek Turbo, a Tek T2, Garrett's CXIII, Garretts scorpion series, Garretts GTI 2500, Tek netics 8500,and the Teknetics Mark I, Garrett's ace 250, BH 3300 series, all the detectors found good and bad stuff in the 3-4-5-6 inch range in this same identical area.... I have a 2 ft by 40 ft area I call the wall of shame, and found things with every detector....however the Minelab Explorer has pulled items from underneath deeper and older dated coins than any of those other detectors. There isn't any silver in the area as it dates to the late 6o's. But the Explorer pulls the 60's and early 70's coins that the other detectors have missed.
Plus the Minelab Explorer II has what I refer to as a Find's Box, it's and area that a detector can or for some can not keep you in. Explorer Keeps me in that Find's box and I find more and better quality find's that any of the other detectors that I've used!
There may be better detectors out there....I haven't used them all, but in the dirt I hunt in I'm in love with my Explorer, ,to the point where I can concentrate on my ground hunting, and not hunt so much for the better detectors on Ebay and the likes!
For now....my Explorer is meeting my detecting needs 100%, and if I get the urge to change again....well the ground in my area will have to be empty first ...and we know that's not happening.
Detectors will improve in the future...I don't know how much, time will tell and show us some really neat changes in our hobby! I guess LCD color screens and other wishes should come into play soon. I'm not saying I'll never buy another machine other than the Explorer or Minelab models. But I am saying that I really have a lot of faith, extreme confidence, and a firm reasonable idea in treasure finding abilities of the Minelab Explorer II series detector right now!
Please remember that I'm only about 3 months old with my Explorer II but I've learned a lot about it and it made it's impressions on me.
I've detected now for about 10 years and I really have done some homework but most of my training has been in the field and what I've learned has been trial and error. Boy...do I have a lot more to learn...and I know I can count on the Explorer team out there to help me learn all the ropes. It really doesn't get any better than the support team we have in the members of Find's Forum!
Thanks Finds!
And Special thanks to the Minelab Group!
