Hi Guys,
Here is a strange thing the explorer se is supposed to be lighter
than the explorer 2 .BUT BUT, IN THE MANUAL ITS THE SAME WEIGHT 1700g
excluding the batteries and the same weight as the QUATTRO. So its
still to heavy when you swing it for 8 hours as i do.
Regards Pinpointa From Down Under.:sadwalk:

That's better, huntingthebay i like your edited reply better there was no need for the smartarse answer you gave before.

Interesting observation you make pinpointa,
maybe the SE manual author assumed that the weight of the SE was the same as the Explorer II...

Still, I'll be going from my Explorer II to an SE.

 ~ The same weight or not...

I think PINPOINTA deserves the odd ocasional prod and poke from someone :poke:....ANYONE.

Just to check that he's still alive and kicking. Keeps him on his toes and helps him make us all aware to the finer observations he makes.

Better be a liitle more careful where you tell Ray to hunt. He'll end up inviting EVERYONE in Perth with a detector to your favourite sites.:chase:

the old coils. Every ounce removed from the coil reduces the swing weight and the fatigue from swinging the coil. Even if a detector were to weigh 6lbs if the coil only weighed 8oz you could swing it all day without getting tired. So if the SE's new coil really is lighter then it should be a little less tiring to hunt with for long periods of time. I had my Local Minelab Dealer order one of the new coils for use on my Explorer.

with your own version , that might be even lighter.

Give me a bare Explorer coil(no outside factory made shell)with a very thin light outside skin like you've made got any day.

Hard Nose Dave.

I understand the coil configuration has helped the ergonomics..As far as a 2 Oz. difference in the coil weight perhaps 2 oz's was added somewhere else...to make both the same weight...

I do and you are right that my coil maybe lighter than the new coil but I want to try out the new coil. I always liked the Tornado coil on the Sov GT. It's nice that Minelab finally decided to go that route with the Explorer coils!

Why not do yourself a favor, and get a "swingy thingy". Been using this for several years now, and the weight of the detector is not an issue anymore, and my arm certainly is better now because all the weight is born by your belt or trousers. It is like having a suspender for your detector. Try one like I did, and you will wonder why you have not been doing this since day one of detecting. Good luck and hunting!!!
